We’re Having A…..

Ok I know I told you last week that we didn’t find out the gender from our ultrasound. But for those of you who know me, know that I like to have the answers to everything in advance and control the situation (hazard of being an ex-teacher). So my friend, Annie, told me about See Me 3D where you can get a 3D ultrasound and find out the gender for sure at 16 weeks. So, I set up the appointment! We actually didn’t need to do the 3D because apparently 2D is more accurate when it comes to gender determination. So we went there and it took about 10 minutes before Baby moved into the “right” position. Finally, Baby went into shoulder stand and there it was! His Manhood!!! We’re having a BOY! Everyone thought it would be a girl! I was even becoming convinced with the high heart rate and wanting fruits and sweets. But my gut instinct was right! Now I’ll have my own little snuggle muffin! I’m so excited!

How far along? 16 weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: 6.5 pounds gained.
Maternity clothes? I found one pair of maternity jeans on sale at Old Navy. I’m thinking someone bought them online and returned them. They’re a bit too big, but I figured when I’m the size of a house I’ll want big clothes!
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I sleep like a rock, except for my nightly pee break.
Best moment this week: Finding out we’re having a BOY!!
Miss Anything? Still coffee!
Movement: I sure can see him doing all sorts of baby yoga in there, but don’t feel it yet! I’m hoping any day now : )
Food cravings: Fruits and juicy foods.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!
Have you started to show yet: Yes. Although I can probably still hide it if you don’t know me!
Gender: BOY!!!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Decorating the nursery and reading to Baby Boy at night : )

Doctor’s Visit

We went to our 15 week visit at the birth center yesterday. Let me just start by saying that I’m so glad I chose to come here! First of all, I walk in and see this book on the table! They knew I was coming. I didn’t even enjoy drinking, until now that is.Take a look at the room we were in!

We met with Lesley (who led the tour we took months back) and she was so calm and reassuring. I was like , “clearly you’ve done this before” So she talked to me about a few different things like car seats, cloth vs. disposable diapers, vaccine options, etc. Then I asked her a plethora of questions. Then we went ahead and listened for the heartbeat! Last time we couldn’t hear it, which is why they thought I was off by a week or so. But this time, we heard it loud and clear! The heart rate was 162 beats per minute!! It was the most incredible sound. Stew took a video on his phone so we could save it!

After our visit with my midwife, we hopped across the street to get my ultrasound (to make sure I was as far along as I though). No we didn’t find out the gender, BUT we got to see Baby moving and shaking! We also found out that I’m right on target with the weeks. So good news all around! Here’s a picture of the ultrasound, which to you probably looks like a gray mass, but sitting there watching it, we could see the baby so clearly! It even went to suck its thumb! SO COOL!! The head is on the left and the body’s on the right. You can see the little spine too!
